Volunteer
Give back to your community network, get involved and have fun as well! Volunteers make it possible for our small staff to offer the services we do. So whether you are looking for a one-time or on-going opportunity for an individual or a group, Bottomless Closet has many ways for you to contribute and make a positive influence in the lives of our clients.
If you don’t see something that suits you from the list, please ask us. We have opportunities in event planning or project management on marketing, helping with fundraising, grant writing or designing publicity materials. If you think a leadership position would be interesting to you, please contact us about board membership.
To ensure the best fit between volunteer interests and our organizational needs, volunteers are asked to attend a Bottomless Closet orientation session prior to volunteering. To arrange an orientation, contact Victor Trice at (312) 527-9664 or e-mail vtrice[at]bottomlesscloset[dot]org.
Volunteer Openings
Client Services
This is an opportunity for personal interaction with our clients on site at Bottomless Closet. In a boutique-like setting, you will act as a personal shopper and help each client select three complete outfits - including suits or seperates, shoes, jewelry, hose, shoes and a coat. In order that our clients look their very best, you will advise, coach, discuss body types and what works best for that particular client and offer advice on make-up. Client consultations generally last for 90 minutes.
Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 2pm
Clothing Intake/Inventory Management
Occassionally we need help with intake on the second Saturday of the month but thanks to Chicago Cares we normally have our quota of volunteers for this activity.
Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 2pm
Showroom Management
This is a great opportunity to use your fashion talents! Volunteers often stock and maintain the appearance of the Bottomless Closet showroom making sure than each item is of the very best quality and suitable for our clients.
Tuesday to Friday and occassional Saturdays from 9:30 am to 2pm
Office Support
If you have administrative skills we could use your talents. There is light bookkeeping work to be done, phones to be answered, database updates to be completed, letters to write, papers to file, projects to be managed and clients to be contacted reminding them of their appointments. These are just a few of the tasks that we need help with every day.

Other Ways to Volunteer
Board of Directors
The Bottomless Closet Board of Directors has open positions for Chicago-area professionals. Board members are required to attend the bimonthly meetings, serve on at least one Board committee, actively participate in fundraising events, volunteer at two client events, recruit volunteers and/or Board members when needed and make an annual personal financial contribution.
