Our History - A Legacy of Hope
Bottomless Closet Inc. was founded in 1991 by four concerned Chicago women who saw the need women had for correct business attire if they wanted to join or re-join the workforce. The need for this service has grown every year since that time. Bottomless Closet proudly continues to serve a community of Chicago women.
Bottomless Closet is the first workforce development organization of its kind, established in 1991 by four local women to address the compelling need for services that would increase the potential for low-income women or those on assistance to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Bottomless Closet is a founding member of The Women's Alliance, a national organization of independent community-based "sister organizations" that provide professional attire, personal and professional career skills training and related services to low-income women seeking employment.
